Apartment Fire Sunset Drive

 

On Tuesday, August 9, 2011, just before midnight, units from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire at 4223 Sunset Drive (City of Osage Beach). Upon arrival, units found a 2-story, 4 unit apartment building with smoke showing from a middle unit. Upon entering the unit, firefighters found the kitchen and adjoining bathroom on fire. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the unit of origin bring the fire under control in about 10 minutes. Firefighters checked adjoining units and ensured all occupants had escaped and there was no fire extension. Approximately 14 personnel with 4 pieces of apparatus responded to the incident. Osage Beach Fire Protection District units were assisted by Lake Ozark Fire Protection District, Osage Beach Ambulance, Osage Beach Police and Ameren UE. Mid-County Fire Protection District was moved-up to an Osage Beach Fire Station for coverage. The fire was caused when the occupant attempted to fry food in a pan on the stove; it erupted in fire and spread through the kitchen before he could extinguish it. Damage is listed at 30,000 dollars. There were no injuries.
