Osage Beach Fire Implements No Open-Flame Grills on Decks of Multi-Family Dwellings
Osage Beach, MO – The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Osage Beach Fire Protection District was held on August 22nd at Fire Station 1. The Board voted to approve the proposed ordinance that adopts Section 308.1.4, Open-flame cooking devices, of the International Fire Code, effective March 1, 2025. The decision was made following the 90-day comment period during which three public forums were held. This code was adopted by other lake-area fire districts several years ago and applies to multi-family residences.
The code bans the operation of charcoal burners and other open-flame devices on combustible balconies within 10 feet of combustible construction.
Exceptions include:
• One- and two-family dwellings.
• Where buildings, balconies and decks are protected by an automatic sprinkler system.
• LP-gas cooking devices having an LP-gas container with a water capacity not greater than 2.5 pounds.
